Update! I’ll give ya an update!

Ok, so life has been pretty crazy and I just haven’t been too motivated to post.  But here goes.  Since last we saw “Hey, Fatso…!”:

I have started seeing a new doctor.  A great guy who has given me a new lease on my situation.  There was no discussion of gastric bypass or lap band.  (My previous doctor approached diet and exercise as “Then when we do the surgery we’ll know that we tried everything…”)  My general health is good, aside from the whole morbid obesity thing.  I weighed in at 427 lbs, which is a good deal less than I had suspected.  I am starting an exercise program of treadmill and recumbent bike 30 mins. 4-5 times a week. (Haven’t really done too well on this, but at least I started!)  And I have a goal to motivate me.  We have scheduled a cruise for May.  Now I know that I won’t be “bikini ready” by May (I will NEVER be bikini ready!), but I will have made significant dent in my yearly goal of losing 10% of my body weight by the end of 2010!  I will try to post weekly my progress.  I didn’t gain any weight over the holidays, which is a good thing.  My spirits are high, and my resolve is intact.  I appreciate the comments I do get from friends and family, and will continue to update you all on how this battle is going.  I know I seemed defeated there for a little while, but I am going forward with renewed vigor and determination.

Fat quote of the week - “What do you want when you’re really depress, you know, some skinny mom: “Well, why don’t you jog around a while and that’ll release adrenalin in your blood and you’ll better cope with stress” or some fat mom: “Well, let’s have pudding, Oreos, and marshmallows.  When you wake up from that sugar coma, it will be a whole new week.”

Food quote of the week - If nature had intended our skeletons to be visible it would have put them on the outside of our bodies.  ~Elmer Rice
